Welcome to
Sedgewood Plantation

Sedgewood Plantation was established in 1842 and is now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and has been designated a Mississippi Historic Landmark. Our family moved to the Mississippi Territory in 1798 where we have raised cattle and farmed ever since.  Great grandfather John Ford was on the committee that wrote the first state constitution in 1817. We moved to Madison County in 1833 and began farming Sedgewood in 1901.

In 1994 we began building one of the best registered Angus seedstock operations in Mississippi. Our program emphasizes calving ease, growth, docility, maternal and carcass traits. The work at Sedgewood is done by my wife Nancy, my sister-in-law Judy Moyers, our three children (when they are home), and me. Nancy and I do all the AI, Judy keeps the electric fences working, and everyone chips in to maintain our 1000-acre place.  Our children are the fourth generation to care for this piece of Heaven called Sedgewood Plantation.

People in the South have a "sense of place." In the agrarian South the land was part of a family's soul and identity. My parents and grandparents lived and died on this place. Their spirits and the homeplace will continue to live on as long as they are nurtured by us and our descendants.

Please make yourself at home.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email or give me a call.  Welcome to Sedgewood!
